This painting carries the opening words of Ayat an-Nur, the Verse of Light from Surah An-Nur: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.” Sana wrote the Arabic calligraphy over a textured base, so light plays across the surface and adds to the meaning of the verse.
The textured medium gives the piece a sculptural, hand-made feel. It is a calm, uplifting painting for a living room, bedroom or prayer corner.
