Everything is already raised on the canvas, so there is no drawing involved, just painting, blending and enjoying the process.

What’s inside your kit

Colour mixing guide

• Warm beige (base colour): white + yellow ochre + a little turquoise, used in step 1
• Bright white: white, for the centre highlight in step 2
• Dark brown: terracotta brown + black, for the corners and edges in step 3
• Soft cream blend: white + the existing beige, for smooth blending in step 4
• Charcoal: black, for the raised calligraphy in step 5
• Deep teal: turquoise + a little black, for the distressed corner texture in step 6
• Bright turquoise: turquoise + a little yellow ochre, for highlights in step 7

Step-by-step instructions

1. Create the warm beige base. Mix white, yellow ochre and a touch of turquoise, then apply it evenly over the whole canvas with the flat brush, keeping the raised calligraphy and corners visible.
2. Brighten the centre. Apply white over the calligraphy and central area, blending in gentle circles for a soft, bright centre.
3. Add dark brown to the corners. Mix terracotta brown with a little black and apply it around the outer corners and edges, keeping the centre lighter.
4. Blend the background. Use white between the bright centre and dark corners, blending in circles for a smooth transition.
5. Paint the raised calligraphy. With the fine detail brush, paint the Arabic lettering in black, working slowly with light pressure for clean, sharp lines.
6. Create the distressed corner texture. Mix turquoise with a little black and dab it over the corner patterns with the sponge dauber.
7. Add bright turquoise highlights. Mix turquoise with a little yellow ochre and lightly dab selected areas with a clean sponge. Blot excess paint to keep the texture natural.
8. Define the canvas edges. Dab black gently along the sides for a neat, finished look.
9. Highlight the raised patterns. Dab turquoise lightly over the raised decorative elements, then let the painting dry completely.
